Manufacturer: ASUS
Model: RX 460 STRIX OC 4GB
UK Price: £162.23 @ Amazon UK (At time of review)
US Price: $139.99 @ Amazon US (At time of review)

The first thing I’m going to say is, yes the prices at the top are a bit messed up currently with the US price representing excellent value for money when compared to the UK price. This is down to pre-Brexit jitters and as the market/exchange rates start to settle, this should hopefully rectify itself shortly.

Concluding the graphics card up itself, the ASUS RX 460 STRIX is targeted towards budget gamers who demand an element of performance; this is one, if not the top card in its class. Obviously, those who want to game at 1080p who are restricted on a budget, the RX 460 does offer an option which currently NVIDIA has yet to fill; this gives AMD a strong position once again as a market leader in price to performance cards.

Design wise, the RX 460 STRIX does feature RGB, but not in the capacity of the other new generation STRIX models we have seen. Obviously, with the card being much shorter than the likes of the RX 480, something had to give and it should be noted that this card doesn’t come supplied with a backplate. That being said, given the target market and the pricing, it wouldn’t only exacerbate prices further and for a budget card, that’s not a good idea.

If you want the best RX 460 4GB graphics card you can get, then the ASUS ticks a lot of boxes including a solid out of the box overclock, a stylish yet simplistic design and of course, it comes with all the quality you can associate with the ASUS STRIX brand. It’s a fairly expensive card when things are considered, but there isn’t any competition really from NVIDIA at this price point currently and for the foreseeable future, AMD have the current value war well and truly in check.

This card might not be suitable for 1440p or 4K resolutions, but on the most popular games such as League of Legends, Counterstrike: Global Offensive and DOTA 2, you really can’t go wrong!

Big thanks to ASUS for sending the RX 460 STRIX OC 4GB graphics card in for review.
