When using your computer for hours on end, typing and using the mouse can become uncomfortable and over time, can introduce injuries such as Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) and muscle and joint pains. To help reduce the chances of getting any of these injuries ergonomically shaped keyboards and mice can be used to provide a more comfortable experience, which tends to alter the position in which you hold the mouse or type on a keyboard. Today I’ll be looking a slightly unusual product that alleviates RSI and joint/muscle pains when using a mouse. Typically, mice that provide a more comfortable experience, tend to be shaped more organically, so that your hand rests on it, without putting strain on the shoulder, arm, wrist or fingers. The mouse I will be taking a look at today has a fairly radical design, but promotes a much improved user experience over the traditional mouse.
The Penclic Mouse R3 is totally different to what you would expect when someone says “mouse”. Whilst it still has a traditional optical sensor and operation buttons, it has a completely different and unusual design, that resembles a fountain pen in an inkwell. Designed by a Swedish firm, Penclic, who specialise in ergonomic products, the Mouse R3, is compact and wireless, which requires a completely different grip to your regular mouse:
