Conclusion

Overall we were impressed with the build quality, it doesn’t feel like cheap Chinese technology and could easily be a firm rival in the race for the ultra mini PC.

I noticed the plastic is prone to finger marks but again, what tech isn’t in this day and age. I wasn’t too happy with the charger/adapter that came in the box, I couldn’t even get the adapter to fit properly, so I chose not to use it and went straight for my Samsung charger. This was more than sufficient to provide adequate power.

Boot time was about 30 seconds, so not too bad. The onboard storage should be enough for most people, however if you are going to be working from the device I would recommend purchasing a Micro SD card and storing any important files/documents on that.

The other thing that annoyed me slightly, I didn’t expect for the Sysprep process to greet me when I logged on for the first time. For a non-technical minded person this might look daunting, even if it is only clicking on 2 buttons. You’d expect to literally just plug in, connect to the internet and off you go. Now I have fat fingers so the power button was a little fiddly but once I got the hang of it, it wasn’t too bad.

The packaging was pretty bland with no real mention on the box of the specifications, Although it has a electro feel too it so chances are, if you’re buying one you will already know the specs and what it’s intended use is.

Overall the device is good value for money and certainly runs and compares well to the Intel Compute Stick. The addition of Windows 10 Home is pretty good. However be careful if you do plan on buying one as there are multiple versions, some with licensed versions of Windows, some coming without the license. We are also keen to see Linux running on the device as this means it’ll be even faster and hopefully more value for money.

I could see these kind of devices doing well in schools/embedded environments due to their small size and zero maintenance requirements. I have always had an interest in Chinese technology and in this instance, I’d happily recommend buying the Meegopad T02.

A big thank you to Bang Good for sending this one in, we look forward to seeing more of their products.
