Coming in at just 16mm thick the GALAX KATANA is being marketed as the world’s first single-slot GTX 1070 graphics card. The card is built around an all copper finned heatsink with a vapour chamber design that GALAX are calling the RazorX TECHNIQUE, the main aim of which is to maintain cooling performance even in thermally challenging scenarios.

The GALAX GTX 1070 KATANA is powered by a single 8-pin connector. Obviously, a single slot design means that video outputs are slightly restricted compared to its larger double slot cousins but with 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 1x HDMI 2.0b, and a single DL-DVI-D connector you should still be pretty well covered. It has been said that clock speeds of 1518 MHz base and 1708 MHz boost clocks will be used in the KATANA card

How much noise a card of this size will make will be very interesting to see when compared to reference dual slot design. It will also be very interesting to see whether the cooler can keep temperatures in check at high loads or whether or not there will be some thermal throttling. Obviously, some sacrifices will have to be made to produce a card this slim.
