The Brookhaven Experiment is a fairly simplistic game at heart, wave after wave of zombie-like creatures attacks you. After the first couple of waves, you learn the speed of the different creatures and prioritise the most pressing problems first. It’s a formula that is so familiar there is probably something on the asset store for it. But it’s in VR. Which after Radial-G doesn’t mean a great deal to me.

Except that, what is an average game becomes something more. I know it’s a game, I loaded it up. But still, these lumbering creatures approach, advancing slowly, your fight or flight response kicks in and you start to panic, firing blindly as they advance on you. This isn’t a game it’s a fight for survival. Suddenly the wave is over and a large floating scoreboard appears, giving a moment to get your breath back and find some resolve to carry on.

As is usual for wave shooters ammo is limited, but combined with no auto aim, any missed shots and wasted bullets are down to you and you alone. Combined with the difficulty spikes it can feel harsh at times, but it ultimately comes down to skill and your ability to face nightmare creatures without looking away.
