The way this game plays is pretty well balanced with survivors all having their own advantages as well as the killer having their own too. That being said survivors and the killer also have their own disadvantages too which makes for great gameplay because you have to be good to play as either side. Advantages for survivors is that when being chased, you have the ability to not only hide inside closets or duck down behind things to make yourself harder to see, but you can also create barriers while running. This stops the killer getting to you and they have to find an alternate route while you’re already getting away, the disadvantage though is that they are notably slower than the killer, so when you get a chance to get away you really got to make it count! Another advantage is that when the killer is getting closer you will hear a heartbeat, the faster that heart beats, the faster you got to get the hell outta there! There are three killers who have their own powers while in game, they are as follows:

  • The Trapper – Bear Trap which can be set almost anywhere in the map to catch survivors by surprise.
  • The Wraith – Wailing Bell when rung gives almost total invisibility, increased speed, heartbeat isn’t heard if he gets close.
  • The Hillbilly – The Chainsaw, gives an increased amount of speed when activated, automatically begins the dying state if hit successfully, instantly breaks barricades!

There is a points system, and the more you gain, the more you can unlock, this is almost essential for playing this game because it adds extra game time. The inventory is good for making the game enjoyable for longer, unlocking things like perks, items, item add ons means that you can do more to work as a team as different survivors unlock different things at a different pace from each other.

What I really loved about playing the game is running around trying to get all the generators working to escape! You have to hit the space-bar at just the right time to get a little boost, miss the boost however and the generator will backfire and the killer WILL know, and very probably attempt to chase you down. If he does get you to fall over, you can attempt to heal yourself a little to crawl and find help, failing that he will lift you and you can struggle against that too. If all that fails and he gets you on his meat hook, you can again attempt to get out of that! So it isn’t like you’re completely screwed once the killer knocks you down, you’ve always got a chance with this game!
