Less than a week ago, Cloud 9 placed second in the North American League of Legends championship series and now Cloud 9 have announced that mid-laner Hai Lam will be leaving the team. Hai is saying it is to do with health issues, an injury to his wrist and the overall atmosphere of the team are his main reasons for leaving the team although there has yet to be an official announcement.

This change may mean the end of Hai’s professional career as a player but it doesn’t mean the end of his run for Cloud 9 as he will be joining the owner, Jack Etienne with partner management and team expansion.

Since Cloud 9 entered the LCS in 2013, Hai has led the team, acquiring fame with great successes in North America. These do include a 25-3 performance in the 2013 summer split and qualifying for the 2013 and 2014 World Championships.

They had a shaky start to the 2015 LCS spring split and quite the poor placing at IEM Katowice, Cloud 9 ended up finishing second in the final standings and playoffs. However, analysts still speculated that after all this roster changes still might occur before the summer split, especially a report by the Daily Dot which stated that the famed European mid laner, Incarnation had been acquired by Cloud 9.

Hai has retired just days after the team set the record for longest unchanged roster in League of Legends history.
