Ubisoft Announces The New Far Cry 2

Ubisoft announces the new Far Cry after leaving fans waiting since yesterday over a surprise livestream announcement. Although IGN Turkey’s Twitter accidentally leaked that it would be this, now we know for sure.

Ubisoft’s new game will be called Far Cry Primal. “Far Cry Primal will take you back to the stone age when man was definitely not at the top of the food chain.” The game is set in the ‘untamed’ land of Oros. You will play as a man called Takkar who is the last survivor of an ambush on his hunting group. You will carry a great set of survival skills which includes the ability to craft weapons from the bones of the animals you hunt. These weapons are crucial for your own safety as well as keeping your tribe safe. You will need to guard your “fledgling” group to ensure it survives and grows.

“Like every Far Cry before it, Far Cry Primal takes place in a massive open world, and Takkar’s adventure will take him through a number of landscapes, ranging from swamps to redwood cedar forests, and when nightfall comes to Oros, fire may be the only thing standing between Takkar and a particularly sharp set of teeth or the jagged tip of a spear. The use of fire is perhaps just as important, if not more important, than the weapons Takkar crafts. In addition to using it for protection at night, he can use it for additional tactical options when assaulting beasts or infiltrating enemy outposts.”

Ubisoft announces the new Far Cry after leaving fans waiting since yesterday over a surprise livestream announcement“The Stone Age is the perfect setting for a Far Cry game.” said Jean-Christophe Guyot, creative director, Ubisoft. “Far Cry usually puts you at the edge of the known world, in a beautiful, lawless and savage frontier. The Stone Age is, in a way, the very first frontier for humankind; it’s the time when humans put a stick in the ground and claimed land for their own, the time when we started climbing the food chain. That came with conflict, against other humans of course, but also against nature itself.”

I think this game has been thought about and been under the covers for a few years as of the quite close release date. I’m actually surprised it wasn’t revealed at E3 but it looks very nice! In the trailer it shows you’ll be hunting Mammoths, Saber-tooth tigers and what looks like another tribe. The trailer looks amazing, I love how it looks, the style is something we haven’t quite seen yet and I love the small details, especially the fur and skin clothes they are wearing.

Far Cry Primal is scheduled for release on February 23, 2016 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version will be released in March 2016. And yes, it is a full game and not an expansion.
