Scythe are a Japanese manufacturer of high performance CPU coolers, fans and accessories. They have released a new CPU cooler called the Ashura to add to their line-up. Scythe say that the Ashura uses a versatile mounting system for the latest CPU sockets and a very slim tower heatsink design to deliver high performance at low noise levels.

The cooler comes with a 140mm PWM Scythe Glide Stream axial-fan which can spin between 500 and 1,300 RPM. The cooler can also be used with dual fans in a push/pull configuration with the included second set of fan clips.

The Ashura has dimensions of 145 x 161 x 65mm (W x H x D) and weighs 750g without the fan. Scythe claim that thanks to the 161mm height the cooler can fit into most mainstream tower PC cases. It uses an asymmetic heatsink design which gives more room to users who are using memory modules with large heatsinks fitted. The cooler uses six 6mm copper heatpipes which rise from the nickel plated solid copper base to the aluminium fins.

Scythe claim that to ensure a firm fit between the CPU cooler and the processor a brand new mounting system has been developed with usability in mind. It ships with the the new mounting hardware, matching screw-wrench, users manual and thermal grease.

It is compatible with Intel LGA 2011, 1155, 1156, 775, 1366 and AMD AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1 and FM2. The Scythe Ashura CPU cooler is available on the market now with a suggested retail price of 36.50 EUR excluding tax and VAT. The model number of the cooler is SCASR-1000.
