[section_title title=”Conclusion”]Conclusion

To start this conclusion I feel the price of the EX-05s needs to be addressed first as ultimately it has dictated the value of the headset as well as its restrained performance.

£20 is an extraordinary price for a headset that covers PC, Mac, the PlayStations and Xbox 360, supporting both audio and voice chat between the latter two consoles to boot. £20 simply isn’t a lot for a voice only headset, let alone one that supports audio, and on this front Gioteck have knocked it out of the park in terms of value for money.

What this low-entry cost has affected though is the quality of components within the EX-05s. The sound produced is solid, but nothing more. It isn’t enveloping or teasing you into picking out booms and slight ticks. It sounds good for a £20 headset and is definite upgrade from a voice only headset such as the bundled Xbox 360 one, but if you’re looking to spend money on a new headset for improved audio quality during private gaming sessions and voice chat, the Ex-05s is probably best avoided.

Gioteck’s design of the Ex-05s itself is interestingly comfortable to wear, which is a shame as you’re likely to be removing the headset due to boredom rather than due to discomfort from the suspended design of the headband. I’d like to see how this design pairs up to higher quality components in the future if we get the chance.

Ultimately, the Ex-05s feels like a reliable option to have as a backup headset either for at home or for taking to LANs. At £20 the cost isn’t significant if it breaks whilst travelling around and perhaps it can be a child’s first dedicated headset to see if they’re ready to be trusted with something a little higher-end down the line – or to save your sanity from the sounds of Minecraft. The EX-05s nets a deserved value award.

Thanks to Giotek for sending this sample in, I hope to see more from them in the future.

Summary

A great backup or first dedicated headset from Gioteck that doesn’t break the bank. The audio experience isn’t going to blow your mind, but the EX-05s produces a clear, unspectacular sound.
