Conclusion

As my time with the Alpenföhn Atlas comes to an end I get the opportunity to reminisce. The design is certainly striking, and as far as fitting goes it was truly a painless process even though as little more force was required that I was comfortable with when placing the heatsink onto the bracket.

Performance though was underwhelming. Whether this was due to the orientation of the cooler and the GPU blocking the air flow somewhat or whether there is some other more integral design or engineering issue involved here I can’t say but my theory is that it’s the airflow causing the problem as when the processor was overclocked and put under load the Alpenföhn Atlas performed admirably which leaves me in two minds… it’s either a great all round product for anyone with any system when overclocking is involved, or it’s a bit of a niche product that will work anywhere but is better suited for specific environments.

Either way, I have to judge it on my experience with my components rather than imagining the possibilities; and though compatibility is excellent it is not the cooler for me to use on an every-day basis as there are better performing ones out there which are also cheaper.
