Taking a look at the design for the Cryorig C1 and I for one like it. While it may be designed for ITX systems, it is still big enough to offer good cooling performance. This is due to the fact that it houses six heatpipes, four of which have a u-shape design to offer better heat dissipation and is topped with a 140mm fan to offer further cooling performance. The overall aesthetics are also very pleasing, Cryorig did a good job of designing the C1 and it should go with most colour schemes users may have.

Taking a look at the Thermal performance and it’s a bit of a mixed bag and there may be a good reason for this. This is my first cooler review and as such I am using a different 4770K than previously used so it may yield different results. If we take a look at the idle benchmarks we will notice a significant increase in temperature over our previous coolers tested, though temps are still still in a livable region. Where I feel this cooler does best in terms of cooling is where it matters most, when the CPU is overclocked and under load. When running tests under full load with my 4770K pushing 4.5Ghz @ 1.3v the Cryorig C1 kept temps down to 56.25c which for me is very acceptable, especially from an air cooler.

The acoustic performance of this cooler is very pleasing. The difference between idle and full load speeds is almost inaudible, well to my ears anyways. Had it not been for my db meter and monitoring the RPMs, I would not have known when I set the fan on the C1 to full speed. This is a big plus for me and is sure to go over well with most!

Taking a look at the price of $65 which comes in just under £40 and I feel this is good value for the money. You are getting a cooler designed for the smaller ITX systems yet it is still big enough to handle and tame some of the hottest CPUs around. If you remember from our previous review on the Raijintek Zelos which came in costing around £21, you get what you pay for and  the Zelos failed to keep a 4770k under 100c when pushing to full load while overclocked. The Cryorig C1 features a nice design and good performance for the money it costs.

If you are looking for a cooler for an ITX system, or maybe something a bit different in the way of air cooling rather than the big box heatsinks with 2 or 3 fans then the Cryorig C1 is right up your alley. If offers good design and performance and is definitely worthy of being considered if you are looking for a top down CPU cooler.

I would like to thank Cryorig for sending the C1 in for review and look forward to seeing more from them in the future.

Summary

The Cryorig C1 may not have offered the best cooling temps at idle but when full load kicked in on an overclocked 4770K it was sure to handle the heat. If you are looking for a ITX cooler that can handle just about anything you throw at it this very well may be a worth contender. The unique design of the C1 offers that bit of extra cooling performance when it really matters and that is what is important.
