Installation

Being the smallest of the three coolers sent by Cryorig I expected that I would be able to fit the C7 within a couple of minutes but it needs to be screwed together from the bottom of the board with the pins on the cooler poking through the motherboard instead of pins on the backplate. As there was no tool inside my pack to use when tightening the bolts I improvised and used a screwdriver type socket, this certainly made things a bit fiddly as I had to hold the board at an angle to be able to do up the nuts underneath. The total installation time may still have been no longer than it took me to fit the M9, but it definitely felt longer.

As with the previous coolers, Cryorig have provided a video to show the process and it makes it look a lot easier than my efforts, though I still had all cables attached when I was fitting the cooler being on the testbench. If the process in the video is followed or you have easy access front and back with the motherboard installed in your case then you may find it’s a lot smoother and faster.

With the C7 firmly attached it’s on to those charts to see how it compares against its competitors.
