[section_title title=”Installation”]Installation

The installation of the Enermax Liqtech 120X cooler is probably one of the easiest coolers I have installed so far other than offerings from Noctua.  Everything needed to install it to the motherboard was included and I have illustrated a basic guide of how the cooler was installed.  This took roughly 5 minutes in total due to time I took to stop and obviously illustrate each process.

The back plate is an interesting one from Enermax as it has a detailed guide as to which hole is for what socket type; this made installation that little bit simpler and another feature I would like to see come from more companies.

Next up is to feed the mounting screws through the holes (in my case it was socket 1150) and align them properly for the next step.

After that is done, next is to place the 4 x plastic washers which not only fill the gap but allow the perfect amount of space for the actual cooler to go on top and enough space for the mounting screws to latch on.

Once the large washers are on, next step is to apply thermal paste; in my case it was Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste which we use for all cooler testing purposes.  After that, you can now place the CPU block on the mounting screws and then screw on the 4 x screw tops which have springs to allow better tension and thus firmly put the block in place.

Here are a couple of illustrations to show the cooler installed onto my ASUS Z87 MAXMIUS GENE VI motherboard:
