Installing Noctua coolers is a simple process thanks to their SecuFirm2 Mounting hardware. For the purpose of this review, we will be using the Intel Socket 1150 hardware.

To get things started off find the backplate and but it on the back of the motherboard so the screws are showing through the front.

One that is done you can secure the backplate in place but putting the black plastic spacers over the screws.

Now it is time to put the cooler retention brackets on top of the black spacers and screw them down with the included thumb screws.

Almost done, once the mounting hardware is in place you can put the thermal paste onto the CPU using your preferred method.

Once you have applied the thermal paste it is now time to secure the cooler down to the mounting hardware via the screws on either side of the NH-D9L

The NH-D9L features 100% RAM compatibility which is and amazing feature for a cooler and something a lot of people will appreciate, especially those looking to build a rig on the smaller side of things.
