[section_title title=Final Thoughts]Final Thoughts

As I touched on in the video, I had a generally good experience with the Vayper Onyx Amber glasses but I figured I would touch more on the technologies and give a more detailed overview on my experience.

Gaming

Well with gaming being the primary focus of the Vayper range, gaming is exactly the variable required to test the function and performance.  With my regular gaming playlist consisting of games such as FIFA 14, Battlefield 4, DOTA2 and League of Legends, prolonged exposure to the blitzkrieg of light/motion from my monitors is enough to turn anyone’s retina into a crusty mess.

As previously experienced, the main technology is in the glass themselves in the way of the I-AMP technology; to find out more, click here!  To cut a long story short, it’s GUNNAR’s patent of reducing eye fatigue which in my experience, it does it great.  Also it magnifies through the lens giving around 10% improvement making small text a bit easier to read which is good, especially as I’m usually writing all day!

Gaming with them, I have to say my experience was pleasant and although it didn’t make me a better gamer, it certainly allowed me to play for longer without feeling the strain and I could have easily carried on; if it hadn’t of been 2am of course!  One thing I will point out though and I’m sure someone would question the amber tinted lenses.  This can be a problem when doing photography editing as whites don’t appear a true white.  Other than that, I have no issues with the Vayper nor the Amber lenses and I feel it actually tones down the harshness of the light without actually distorting the colours too much.

Comfort

To get straight to the point, the GUNNAR Vayper are extremely lightweight and other than the amber tinted lenses, it would be easy to forget you were wearing anything at all!  In terms of comfort, I had no issues and feel they are very comfortable and this is coming from someone who has 20/20 vision; as mentioned previously, if you need prescription glasses then take a look through the GUNNAR RX Programme.

Overall, the Vayper were as comfortable as anything I could think of and would have only been made slightly better by wrapping them in cotton wool!

Pricewise, they are at the bottom end of the spectrum as far as GUNNARs are concerned and at £79.99, I would easily consider them a worthwhile purchase; if you have £80 to spare of course!  What makes them so good in my opinion is that they work, they just work!  With their lightweight frame, top quality construction and impeccable sleek styling, the Vayper Onyx Amber not only protects from nasty eye fatigue, but doesn’t cost the earth either.

Overall the Vayper Onyx Amber gaming glasses really do make the cut and although they aren’t my favourite set of GUNNARs, they do exactly what they say on the tin!
