So after testing and using the Netgear R6300 smart Wi-Fi router, what are my final thoughts?  Is it as good as it is on paper or does it fall flat on its back?  Let’s get cracking…

Starting out with the performance, I was pleasantly surprised at the results that the R6300 delivered, especially in the range testing; 20+ Mbps on a tablet at 25m with obstructions is very impressive in my opinion.  The overall general performance over the 2.4GHz wireless connection was superb with our wireless devices also and provided consistent results in my testing.  Although the ping was a little out compared to the TP Link router I reviewed, it was certainly more consistent and internet connections can fluctuate in quality at any period so I am not really worried about the actual quality here.  With the AC 1750 being present, you can pretty much be assured that the performance is going to be there unless the manufacturer has implemented a horrible design or flawed antenna’s etc.

Looking at the design of the router, it isn’t going to appeal to everyone’s taste as the yellow strip at the bottom does add contrast but I can imagine some people would have been much happier with an all-black design.   I personally like it as yellow is one of my favourite colours and it looks more like yellow gold as opposed to a shade of saffron .  The triangle honeycomb effect at the rear reflects light and looks very good but I do think it is a bit much and it would have probably looked better without the fancy design.  When lit up, the Netgear logo in the centre and LED lights glow which looks superb and doesn’t just look professional, but looks stylish too.

Price wise, the Netgear R6300 fluctuates greatly depending on the retailer; I have seen it as low as £136 but other retailers have it for £189.99 so if you are looking to purchase one of these, Amazon would be a good start if you are looking for a good price; please note prices can change at any time.  It is expensive but in comparison to all the features such as the parental control, 2 x USB connections and Netgears ReadyShare function, as well as the AC1750 it comes packed with, this router is 100% fantastic and you generally get what you pay for.

The Netgear R6300 not only deserves the performance award, but has left me with a good taste in my mouth regarding the hype surrounding Netgear products; this one in particular is great.  Overall the R6300 would be a fantastic purchase for those looking to extend their Wi-Fi capability and provide their devices with the best possible signal.

Thanks to Netgear for sending the R6300 in for review and I look forward to seeing more in the near future.
