Packaging
The packaging is a little different from what we have seen before in the Noctua NH-L12 and NH-D14 reviews but I welcome change and I think that the two colours work very well together. The vast majority of the box is coloured in the Noctua brown that they are famed for, and whilst it is one of those colours that you either love or hate, I really like that it is different from the standard colouring that most manufacturers go with. Whether it happens to be, your cup of tea or not, that’s for you to decide. For now, it’s time to look at the actual packaging of the product and I will start off with the front of the box.
There’s a cut-out which gives us a clear display of the fan which is used on this cooler, in this particular case it is one of Noctua’s NF-B9 fans, but that’s only the one. There are two that come with this cooler but that’s stashed away elsewhere in the packaging, and it’ll be revealed in due course. The top of the packaging contains information about the cooler and the fans that come with the cooler too.  The one side of the packaging that is visible in the image below contains information about the cooler itself such as its height and the fans that come with the cooler too.
The back of the box contains a vast array of information regarding the cooler as well and in typical Noctua fashion, it’s done in multiple languages too. It gives us information about the cooler, well, a brief overview if you will, and it also goes into great detail about the mounting mechanism – SecuFirm2 – which is featured on every Noctua cooler currently on the market.
Within the outer packaging is a box for the accessories such as the mounting kit and the extra fan, as well as the container which houses the cooler itself too. As ever with Noctua, the box is sturdy and constructed out of good quality cardboard. The cooler itself, as well as the extra parts should not get damaged in transit, unless your courier happens to stand on the box or kick it around like a heavy, box shaped football.
Finally, we have the accessories which come with the cooler. As ever with Noctua, the list is pretty comprehensive and it consists of a large but necessary amount of bits. There’s everything here that you will need to mount the cooler on either and AMD or Intel platform, as well as the included noise reduction cables for the fans (both 5v and 7v), a screw driver, some thermal paste, and an extra fan for the other side of the cooler to boot. Noctua never fail to deliver in the accessories department, that’s for sure.
