So starting out with the packaging ASUS have elected to use for their new STRIX PRO gaming headset, ASUS have gone with a very flamboyant and aggressive look for their packaging; there is a claw mark in the viewing window.  In terms of theme, the STRIX PRO has an orange and black theme “good job ASUS” which looks very nice I might add; not biased at all?  Ok, I do love orange.

On the front the STRIX logo is present with the ASUS branding across the bottom.  Information such as the model number and some of the features which include support for PC/MAC, PS4 and smart devices such as tablets/mobile phones which is a very nice touch; usually gaming headsets of this calibre only cater to PC or at most, consoles.

The rear of the packaging follows the exact same theme as the front but it does have a nice diagram/illustration in the centre which points out some of the features including the folding ear cups, 90% ENC noise cancellation and of course, a first look at the control box that ASUS have implemented onto the STRIX PRO.

One thing I do like about the packaging is the STRIX logo in a chrome finish which gives a very sophisticated and premium look; this falls in like with the feel of the packaging as the plastic/cardboard used aren’t of a “cheap” quality.

Upon removing the contents from the box, I was greeted with a nice black box with ASUS branding across the front, this also includes the large plastic insert which keeps the headset in place; pretty thick clear plastic too so the headset should arrive damage free!

Inside of the black box is 2 x information leaflets (quick start guide & warranty information), the detachable mic that the STRIX PRO features and 2 x adapters for connecting to smartphone such as Samsung, Sony Erikson and of course Nokia phones; old and new believe it or not!

One thing I was disappointed in however was the lack of a carry bag, a lot of brands provide them and with the STRIX PRO featuring foldable ear cups, a bag would have been a very nice touch; this of course wasn’t meant to be!

Here we have the detachable control box including connections which allow plug in and play compatibility with the PS4, PC/MAC and of course a nice touch in the smartphone support; the cable is a solid thick braid which is very unlikely to come undone!

The connectors also feature gold plating for the best possible conduction; this adds an extra element of quality to the product and the knob on the control box features a very nice chrome finish; the ENC switch can be found on the rear of the control box and can be turned on or off at will.
