[section_title title=”Software”] Software

Corsair uses an all-in-one suite for its peripherals and as you can see here, the K40 can be accessed in the same panel as the M45. Switching between hardware causes some slight lag and there should be room for improvement here.

In terms of the M45 customisation itself, there really isn’t much to change function wise due to the limits of the hardware itself. As an FPS mouse primarily, it’s likely you’ve already got a mental assignment of what the back/forwards keys are going to be used for and they’re the only real expendable keys. What you can do though is assign macros – including ones created for the K40 – switch button functions around (including the DPI switches) and assign a ‘sniper button’ to one of the switches which drops (or ups) the DPI so a designated sensitivity as long as the button is held.

Below we’ve got the performance tab of Corsair’s software and the main area of configuring the M45’s properties.

All the usual gubbings are in this tab such as independent sensitivity settings for the vertical and horizontal scrolling, polling rate, lift-off distance and DPI settings for the the various levels and the sniper button.
