At £45 the price isn’t bad at all for what the M45 offers you. It’s a solid all-around mouse and better in every area over the similarly priced SteelSeries Raw – but for the software side of things. Add on to this the two year warranty and reliability and service associated with the Corsair name and you can’t go much wrong from a value perspective.
Onto the hardware itself, the Corsair M45 has nestled its way into my own personal table of recommendation. Although not reaching the dizzy height of the Func MS-3 or Logitech G602, the M45 would be my go to recommendation for anyone considering a mouse at this price point. The lack of a sniper button is a slight let own, but the overall package has a good ranged sensor included as well as weights to ensure your fragging is as smooth as desired.
If there’s a negative to the M45 it’s the Corsair software which feels slightly confusing and unintuitive to use. Macro assignment and profile saving is as laborious as it was on the K40, and in this area, Corsair really can do better especially when you look at what Logitech and SteelSeries are bringing to the market.
To link back to the start of this conclusion, the M45 has left an all-around positive impression and one that restores my faith in Corsair peripherals. Whilst the K40 had multiple features to be exploited, the effort required to do so render them useless. The M45 is as function over form as you’d expect from a mouse, and in this regard, Corsair are on form with only a few niggles stopping the M45 from being truly great.
