Conclusion

Jumping right into the performance part of the conclusion as I do and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the Cougar 200K and its scissor switches. The scissor switches make it so the keys are seamlessly easy to press in so if you suffer from fatigue or find normal keyboards are a bit to resistant to being pressed the 200K may very well be a good option for you. In the couple weeks of using it I did not notice once that keys had not been pressed or any other issues, it performed as it was designed to and as mentioned, any shortcoming or minor problem I came across was more due to my previous personal preferences then to do with the keyboard itself.

The design of the 200K is slim, sleek and elegant and while the switch type may not be for everyone, it is hard to deny the looks of the keyboard. Cougar did a great job on the 200K with its simple yet elegant design and the addition of seven colour backlighting is sure to go over big with most users as it will allow users to be able to more easily match it with the colour scheme of the rest of their build and components.

The switch type in use, scissor, surely won’t be up to everyone’s liking but at the end of the day for those looking for something of this nature there is surely nothing wrong with it. The switches are easy to push in and as such should in theory cause less fatigue. The switched work great for what they are and once used to them were easy enough to work with.

The value of the Cougar 200K is right on point in my book. Coming in at just shy of £30, the 200K offers a good, albeit unique experience for a keyboard. For the price, you are getting a well-built keyboard that has a nice seven colour backlighting system and a decent enough anti-ghosting feature that should see most users through most games.

This was the first time I had used scissor switches on anything other than a laptop and have to say I was really quite impressed by the overall functionality they had to offer. As mentioned many times, they may not be for everyone but if you are in the market for something of this sort than the Cougar 200K is a great place to start looking.

I would like to thank Cougar for sending their 200K Gaming Keyboard in for review and hope to see more from them in the near future.
