Packaging

Let’s take a look at the packaging the headset comes in.

cloud2boxfront

The front of the box is very familiar with only minor differences to the one that contained the original Cloud, with the main difference of course being the change in colour scheme for the picture and the “2”.

The side of the box talks about the solid build quality and the noise cancelling mic as well as (of course) the 7.1 Virtual surround capability.

cloud2boxside1

The other side of the box features some HyperX brand fluff in a few different languages.

cloud2boxrear

The rear of the box sports a labelled diagram of the headset which is always nice if you (for some reason) come across it in a brick and mortar store.

Opening up the inner box we can see the headset is both well presented and well protected with a selection of bits surrounding it in the form of the mic, a laptop adapter and the main new thing which is of course the 7.1 USB sound card.

Finally we have our quick start guide, headset information guide and also a very nice carry bag which is sure to be handy if you are a LAN goer.

Closer Look

Time to check out the headset itself.

cloud2front

From the front we can see little has changed other than the colour scheme, and that’s no great shame because it’s still every bit as gorgeous thanks to those aluminium touches.

cloud2headband

The leather effect headband has some nice contrasting white stitching in addition to the HyperX logo, I think it’s a nice balance between clean looks and branding.

cloud2side1

From the right-hand side we can see the new silver colour scheme for the aluminium sections and I have to say it looks great, it is just such an elegant looking bit of kit.

cloud2side2

The left-hand side is naturally the same but here we have a better look at that HyperX logo that sits on the aluminium badge on the side of the ear cup.

cloud2micblank

Here is a look at the microphone jack with the blanking bit of rubber installed, as you can see it is nice and tucked away which is a great way for it to be if you want to take your Cloud 2s out on the go without a mic hanging out making you look like a nerd.

Finally we have the in-line remote which is large but as a by-product of that is very easy to use and looks very nice on your desk when the HyperX logo lights up red.

The whole experience of opening and then looking at your new Cloud 2s is great, the packaging is so nice that it makes it feel like a special occasion opening it all up and the included extras like the carry bag only help with that feeling, and of course when you get them out the packaging they are just simply stunning.
