[section_title title=”Conclusion”]Conclusion

Logitech have been sure to make plenty of marketing fuss about the Fusion Engine and the speed of the tracking etc, but how does that translate to actual use? Moreover, does it have a place in their own crowded range, let alone the densely populated wider market?

Well starting off with the design I think Logitech have done a good job here, I really appreciate the stealthy look of the mouse which is grey and black all over (with the exception of the illuminated blue G series logo). I think this design fits in really nicely with the mouse because the mouse is also a no nonsense performer, with everything that you want and no gimmicks. I like the more angular front as it looks more modern than the ageing G400/500 design, but I also like that Logitech know not to fix what isn’t broken and have simply refined the classic palm grip shape rather than replacing it with something more fashionable. I do wish it had a braided cable, but then again the braiding on my G500 was pretty rubbish so if they can’t manage any better nowadays then perhaps its absence is liveable.

Performance is superb on the G402, thanks to the awesome Fusion technology Logitech has trickled down from the G502. The fact that its pretty much humanly impossible to make the sensor fail under acceleration makes this a perfect mouse for real hardcore low sensitivity players, who need that lighting fast twitch movement to be transmitted perfectly into the game without having to worry about the mouse crapping its pants under acceleration.

In terms of value I would say the G402 is pretty good, looking likely to come in at around £50 it is enough of a saving over the G502 to be significant and considering the great performance on offer, and of course not forgetting the Logitech build quality, I’d say the price is warranted. I’m very happy to award the G402 a Gold award and I feel the awesome acceleration speeds it is capable of also deserve a Performance award.

A massive thanks as ever to Logitech for providing us with today’s sample and I look forward to more from them in the future.

Summary

The G402 is a stealthy looking modern update of the classic G400 shape. The Fusion Engine technology creates a truly unflappable FPS mouse, top it all off with Logitech quality and support and you’re on to a winner.
