[section_title title=”Closer Look”]Closer Look

Having a more detailed look at the Scuf Gaming Hybrid, this particular model is based on the official Xbox 360 style controller which features 2 thumb sticks, a D pad, 3 buttons in the middle (from left to right – Back/main/start) and the standard X, Y, A and B buttons.  This particular controller features white buttons with a glossy black carbon D pad which looks phenomenal in the light.  It is worth nothing that this particular sample is wired and is designed for use with the Xbox 360 and the PC due to its USB connectivity.

Along the bottom of the pad, it simply features the branding Hybrid in white font which matches the buttons; a very nice classic black and white contrast.

On the rear of the Scuf Hybrid, this sample has 4 paddles but you can customise the controller to suit your specific needs.  The options currently available allow you to choose between 2 and 4 paddles with the option to configure each paddle to the button you want it assigned too.  Scuf also allow you to customise the actual design of the controller and as you can see by this illustration, we have a wet look which pictures don’t do the finish justice; it is simply mouth-watering (mind the pun).

Another nice little touch is the Scuff approved quality sticker which is situated in the centre.  This does void the warranty if removed but it would be nice to be able to remove it, it kind of spoils the look on the rear in my opinion.  Maybe even if it was etched into the controller and it wouldn’t intrude on the design too much?

One of the main features aside from the paddles is the option to include trigger stoppers.  These are designed to shorten the time it takes to fire your weapon which in turn allows you to fire single shot weapons faster or even quick bursts; this is something I will take a look at in the testing.

Also the finish on the rear looks good doesn’t it?

The cable is pretty standard and has the same connection as any Xbox 360/PC controller.  The cable is quite thick and has a good amount of flex to it; it should be robust enough to stand the test of time although miss-use is another thing altogether.

On the right trigger button, we have a very nice embossed Scuf Gaming logo which looks great when different shades of light shine over it; this controller really has some fantastic aesthetics.

Last but not least, we have the middle button which brings up the dashboard when used with the Xbox 360.  It has a very nice Scuf Gaming logo in the centre and the actual LED colour can be customised; Scuf certainly haven’t spared any expense in their design department.

Scuf allow you to customise literally every aspect of the controller so to see different configurations, head over to http://eu.scufgaming.com/controllers/scuf-hybrid-xbox-360/shop/ to check out the options.
