Software

The software provided on a disc with the product, offers a lot of customising features to allow for the user to set specific macros/shortcuts or change the colours and sensitivity of the Decus. We were surprised to see so much on offer for a mouse of this price, a nice touch from SpeedLink to allow for the user to leave their mark on the gear they buy. So, let’s take a look at it!

1
To start, we have the main menu which shows the magnitude of creative potential that the Decus allows for and the endless possibilities for profile creation. With a structure skeleton design per profile that allows for a simple click-click custom lighting option, we also have the main menu of abilities towards the bottom proportion of the software. These include performance, such as speed and system based buttons as well as a specific button for setting programmable keys.

2

One of the two options under the performance tab is the speed, or realistically the DPI, and all the other profile settings available for this mouse. Sensitivity, polling rate and rapid fire speed can be set per profile, allowing for easy acquisition between games or preferences. This is the general page for all your laser sensor options so make sure you pop here for all your custom DPI setting needs!

3

Now we have the more technical side of the software, allowing for the change of system modifications that the mouse can perform. This ranges from double click speed and windows pointer speed, offering an enhanced option, to tilt wheel scroll speed and mouse wheel scroll speed. Everything can be fine tuned to ensure your experiences with the Decus are as perfect as SpeedLink set out for them to be.

4

Finally, we have the buttons page which offers a magnitude of options from button select to dpi switching, scroll positioning and profile switching. Then, the Decus software allows for key command, macro and basic function assigning to allow for a mass of creative thinking as to what you want to have your mouse do.

Overall, we are very impressed with the thought that has gone into this software and everything has been researched accordingly, which truly shows in the mass of possibilities this software allows you to do. We are beyond happy to finally see software developers, backed by companies like SpeedLink, taking into careful consideration what the end user wants and not what they think they want. Top marks!
