Audio Quality – Music

When using the Level 10M Headset for listening to music all was well. It offers a good all-around experience and performs as it should for the price. While it is not a bass heavy headset the vocals where always crisp and clear and the distinction between different instruments and background sounds is quite well. While this headset is good for a variety of genres, if you want something that has really hard hitting bass you may want to look elsewhere.

Audio Quality – Gaming

When it comes to gaming tests I am primarily an FPS player and I feel this is great for testing headphones as being able to judge how far away an enemy soldier or vehicle is can be very critical. While I felt being able to judge the distance was a bit hard at times, being able to tell the differences in sounds and the general direction they were coming from was quite good.

Playing games like BF4 was quite good with the 10M, there is always a lot going on and enemies coming at you from all sides and while it may be hard to judge how far they are away at certain depths, it is easy to distinguish which side they are on which is also important. Please note that while I say it is hard to tell how far away enemies are, it is not impossible! You will not run into a situation where someone runs up right behind you and sounds like they are half way across the map.

Comfort

The 10M headset was designed for gamer’s so with that in mind it is meant to stand the test of time and be comfortable for longer periods of gaming and that it is. While I was a bit skeptical at first of the small padded area on the headband that will set a top user’s heads, it ended up working out great and after a few minutes was almost unnoticeable. The 10M is also not overly heavy when you consider the fact it has an aluminium base which is quite nice.

The earcups also have ample padding on them and fit around the ears quite nicely.  Another nice point for the earcups is the fact that they rotate and pivot a bit so will be able to conform more easily to each individuals head shape and size which is a bit plus. I have a rather large head (from all the tech knowledge I possess) and sometimes it seems as if headsets are made for people with smaller heads and leaves them being uncomfortable for me.

Mic

The mic unfortunately was a bit of a disappointment when considering how nice the rest of the headset is, that isn’t saying it’s too horrible it just doesn’t live up to the standard the rest of the 10M offers. While it boasts noise cancellation right in its specifications it is far from being the best. The main thing I noticed when testing over mumble or skype calls is if the mic wasn’t almost right up against my lips people would either say I sounded like I was in a tin can or a robot. However, the mic was still clear and easily understandable and when it was close enough to my mouth it seemed to perform very well.
