Conclusion

When buying a power supply, which is the feature at the front of your mind which dictates the way you purchase one? Is it the efficiency rating? Is it even the total watt output? Could it be the design or the overall size of it? I mean after all, not everyone has a humongous case with enough room to fit a 1600w behemoth inside, but what if you could have a mixture of everything?

Well the SuperFlower Leadex Platinum range seems to do just that and although I only have the 750w version on the test bench, I feel that this reflects on the rest of the range; in my opinion of course! With pretty solid 3.3v, 5v and 12v performance from the 750w version from our simple testing methodology and super great efficiency all around, the Leadex Platinum is like the older brother of the Gold; which actually won our platinum award last time around.

The fully modular design of the SuperFlower Leadex Platinum is a nice feature and given the £102.95 price tag, it’s a tall order to find a fully modular platinum rated 750w power supply within reach of this; especially one as good and well-rounded as the Leadex Platinum. That being said, there is a pretty huge pitfall for me and that is the huge white sticker across one side; if your PSU is mounted in the floor of a left to right case, then the sticker sticks out like a sore thumb. It isn’t a problem in a case like an NZXT Noctis 450 or Phanteks etc. with their solid PSU covers, but in a case with no cover, it does look pretty crap; sorry SuperFlower.

Another interesting feature us the semi passive design which can be turned on or off at the flick of a switch; SuperFlower actually call it ECO mode and it works superbly. If it was me and I was powering a system over 650w, I would leave it on auto just to be 100% safe, but if you are running a single GPU configuration, then ECO is probably going to be favoured due to the silent operation; the 135cm fan included in this unit isn’t too audible anyway, but for those demanding silence, ECO mode is imperative.

With its 750w rating, a setup like an Intel Core i7 4770k, 2 x NVIDIA GTX 970’s and multiple storage drives would run perfectly on this power supply and would probably handle 980 in SLI too! Also the pricing at £102.95 is a very good price, effectively a platinum rated power supply for the price of gold; can’t say fairer than that right? Yeah competition is stiff in the PSU market, but SuperFlower have been consistent with their range in terms of quality, performance and of course value.

Final Verdict: If you are in the market for a solid all-round power supply and demand the upmost quality, efficiency and of course style, then the SuperFlower Leadex 750w Platinum series power supply should certainly be at the top of the list; it handles the watts so you can get those frags! Also did I mention this power supply is available in BLACK or WHITE? Available from Overclockers UK of course!
