Introduction & Closer Look

Brand: SuperFlower
Model: Leadex Platinum 750w Fully Modular
Price: £102.95 @Overclockers UK (At time of review)

If you haven’t heard of SuperFlower by know, then where have you been hiding the last 12 months? They haven’t only been winning a variety of awards from multiple review sites, but they have been featured with us before and not only that, they scooped one of our rare Platinum awards. They must be good then right? Well obviously, but sometimes things change, momentum slips and things can only go down. Is that the case though with Superflower? I highly doubt that…

So which model is gracing our test bench for today’s review? Well today we will be taking a look at the SuperFlower Leadex Platinum 750w Fully Modular 80 PLUS Platinum rated power supply; bit of a mouthful! With a total rated output of 750w and an 80 PLUS Platinum efficiency rating, it should be a perfect power supply for 2 way SLI or 2 way Crossfire depending on the TDP of each card etc.. Some might say 750w is too little, but I know from personal experience that it’s enough depending on the graphics card/CPU combination used.

So looking at the unit itself, the SuperFlower 750w Leadex Platinum power supply has an all-black finish and unlike some SuperFlower models, is available in black or white; this will certainly appeal to those who love white coloured hardware like myself. With 10 available connections (2 for the 24pin motherboard power cable and 8 universal ports), there is literally no way to get the connections wrong; even the 8 pin 12V CPU power cable is universal across the 8 different slots which is very easy for the novice to get to grips with. Also on the rear, is a switch which changes from auto to eco and visa versa. Eco is essentially passive mode with auto switching between passive and non-passive when needed; perfect for those wanting to reduce noise inside of their case and increase efficiency.

On one side of the SuperFlower Leadex Platinum m 750w power supply, we have a large embossed SuperFlower logo and branding which does catch lighting very nicely depending on the angle.

The flip side however has a large white SuperFlower specifications/ratings sticker with relevant information pertaining to not only the AC input/DC output, but of course the amperage available on each individual line. As a note of SuperFlower’s quality, 62.4A is available on the 12V rail which is absolutely superb, with 20A across the 3.3V and 5V respectively.

Of course a fully modular power supply is absolutely useless without its cables and like a lot of manufacturers are doing, the SuperFlower cables come in a black branded pouch, with each cable neatly placed inside.

In terms of connections and cable types, the SuperFlower 750w Leadex Platinum comes with the following:

– 1 x 20+4-Pin ATX12V/EPS12V
– 2 x 4+4-Pin ATX12V/EPS12V
– 4 x 6+2-Pin-PCIe
– 10 x SATA
– 5 x 4-Pin-Molex

Each cable is 16.5cm or 165mm in length so if your case is abnormal shaped or you need the extra length, SuperFlower got your back jack! Each cable with the exception of the PCIe, 8pin CPU and 20+4 pin are flat ribbon cables, with the aforementioned having that plasticky feeling sleeve over it.

If unique is your cup of tea, then the SuperFlower Leadex Platinum will rock your socks with its white LEDs built into the connection ports; this is why the connectors themselves are clear plastic. This allows for an ambient glow and can actually look fantastic in the right circumstances; I personally love it!
