[section_title title=”Performance and VoyagerAir APP”]Performance & VoyagerAir App

The performance of the Voyager Air 2 as a normal USB External Hard Drive is quite good. If you look back at the benchmarks you will notice the Voyager Air 2 is normally found right in the middle of the results. This is just fine with me as unlike the other drives in our benchmarks, the Voyager Air 2 is meant to be used more so for wireless media streaming rather than normal external storage.

Once everything is all set up and connected I(which can be a bit of a pain at first) it is very easy to use. To add files to the Voyager Air 2 you connect it to your PC or Laptop via the included USB 3.0 cable. Once your PC or Laptop recognizes the Voyager Air 2 it is as easy as simply dragging and dropping the files onto it you want. It is set up like any other external drive you would come across and you can create your own folders or add everything to the root directory if you want.

For my testing I used an Android device but would imagine the IOS app would be quite similar. While setting everything up is fairly straight forward and easy it is a bit tedious, having to disconnect and reconnect to wifi and the Voyager Air 2 numerous time. Once you have charged the Voyager Air 2 and downloaded the app to the device of your choice, just turn the Voyager Air 2 on, hit the Wifi button then on your phone go to Wifi settings and search for networks. You should see one called VoyagerAir or something similar and this is of course the one you want to connect to. First time you connect the network will be open and once connected you can go into the settings through the app and set a password and all that fun stuff.

The first time you connect to the Voyager Air 2 you will most likely have to download an update or two.You can do this via the Corsair App or you can go to www.corsair.com/downloads, search for the Voyager air 2 and download the corresponding update and put it on the device manually. If you do it via the App you will need to set a network password for the Voyager Air 2 and then enable Wireless pass-thru. Depending on your device you may have to reconnect to the VoyagerAir wirless network numerous times during this process.

When you have downloaded the updates and installed them it is now time to have fun and enjoy the device a bit. There are numerous settings and options to play with to get everything set up how you want. Switching between movies, audio or any files in general is as easy as you would imagine it to be. I was really impressed with buffer times when watching movies as it was only about 1-2 seconds. This held up even when skipping through scenes on movies as well.

Here are a few screenshots directly from my android device:
