This morning Unigine have announced a slight delay to the launch of their upcoming Superposition benchmarking software so that they can launch it hand in hand with a new global benchmarking leaderboard system.

The new system is set to allow user to share and compare scores with one another much like you find with the 3DMark software. Unigine have also said that the leaderboards can be used overclocking competitions and setting world records.

Here is what Unigine have said on the matter:

“Hello all!

As you see, we planned to release Superposition on April 6. But now the date has changed to April 11.
Of course, you’re wondering what happened? Well, here is the story.
Superposition Benchmark is completely finished and ready for the release. But this time we are also going to launch UNIGINE’s Global Leaderboard, where you can share your scores, compare the results, run overclocking competitions and set world records.
Making benchmarks is quite an ordinary task for our team. But making a Leaderbord and integrating it with the benchmark is some kind of a new challenge for us. Though developers are working non-stop now, we need some extra time to run final tests.
The good news is that the final version of the Superposition Benchmark looks even more beautiful than in the previous video teasers! Surely you’ll like it!
We apologize again for shifting the release date. But we want both the benchmark and the Leaderbord to be stable and work properly. And we hope, you want it too!”

Some of the key features of the new software are:

  • Top-notch visuals powered by UNIGINE 2 Engine
  • Global leaderboards for benchmark scores
  • Stress load for the GPU heating system
  • Scalable quality settings
  • VR mode (Oculus Rift and HTC Vive)
  • Free interactive mode with mini-games
  • Support for Windows and Linux

I must admit, the VR mode does have me pretty excited and it’s making me want to run out and buy a VR unit just for this. What benchmark software do you use and how do you think Unigine’s latest software will hold up? Tell us in the comments section below.
