Ok so recently there hasnt been much news around regarding the next gen Intel CPUs that will be replacing Kaby Lake, however with all the lime light being on the new HEDT X299 platform at present this is understandable.
Based on the same 14nm manufacturing process as Kaby Lake and Sky Lake, Coffee Lake should be the final iteration of the design process.
The Engineering Sample CPU that is listed only has a “Genuine Intel CPU 0000” designation at present however the specifications that are given do look very promising. Coming with 3.1/4.2 GHz base/boost clock and equipped with 256 Kb L2 cache per core and a total of 12 MB L3 which works out at 2 MB per core, in-line with current Kaby Lake CPUs. This 6-core Coffee Lake CPU certainly has the makings of a very productive CPU and hopefully a good upgrade for people who have a Sky/Kaby Lake CPU at the moment but need more cores.
