It’s high expected that AMD will show off their Hawaii GPU architecture as well as the rumoured ‘R9 280X’ – succesor to the Radeon 7970.
What may be of interest to parties looking to spend big on a new GPU is that reading into an AMD exec’s comments with Forbes AMD won’t be aiming for “…a $999 single GPU solution like our competition”. So, it appears an outright “Titan killer” may not be in the works performance wise, but with the card sticking to 28nm and a slightly revamped architecture there is no reason to believe AMD won’t be tackling the next tier down and aiming to take the GeForce 780 to school on price and/or performance.
One thing is for sure, though, anyone looking to dive in at the top end of the GPU market could do with holding on until next Thursday.
