Nvidia has announced that with the release of their 343 drivers they will discontinue updates on some of their older cards. Some of the models Nvidia will stop releasing updates for are the Quadro FX series and the 1, 2, 3, 4, 8 and 9 series graphics cards.
What does this mean? In simple terms, it means that if gamers want to continue to play the latest games, they may need to update to a newer graphics cards that will support the latest DirectX and Nvidia drivers. It also means that if people using the said Quadro series cards are dependent on updates they will need to upgrade as well.
While Nvidia will no longer be offering updates for the listed devices, they have said “The Release 340 drivers will continue to support these products until April 1, 2016, and the NVIDIA support team will continue to address driver issues for these products in driver branches up to and including Release 340. However, future driver enhancements and optimizations in driver releases after Release 340 will not support these products.”
