Conclusion
The header on the In Win 703 only allows for one USB3 device to run at full speed, but since my phone is the only USB3 device I own I’m not all that bothered… but since the standard has been available for a while now it would have been nice to see two sockets there even if the technology is backward compatible with the two included USB2 sockets.
It can be a tight fit to get the parts you want to go inside. For example, I was unable to connect the additional Molex power plug to my motherboard since it’s currently lying flush with the PSU, but I put that down to a limitation of the motherboard itself and not the case. The case says it will fit ATX boards and that’s exactly what it does, down to the millimetre.
None of these points particularly signifies the end of the world, but the close quarters did cause me a lot of issues when it came to using my either of my AIOs. I currently can’t overclock my processor at all on the stock cooler and that is a bit of a game changer. That said, there are loads of CPU coolers that will fit in the case and with careful airflow management I could OC on air instead of using a closed loop. I would have liked some grommets on the cable management holes albeit the price of the case would have increased if these were included.
The In Win 703 that I tested currently accommodates about 8 years worth of hard drive upgrades with room for the next two drives that I end up buying. It will accept multiple top-of-the-range graphics cards, so you can plan for future Crossfire / SLI.
It also swallows up massive PSUs and you could water cool it with a small AIO or possibly a custom loop if it was well planned. Even with all that crammed in, you can still plan and execute reasonable cable management and get an awesome result for looks as well as airflow.
A far as my test goes my thoughts are simple – if I change my motherboard and test a few coolers for compatibility and performance then this case would suit me for at least the next 5 years or more. However, I see this as a new case for a new mid-high range system, rather than an extreme overclocker or a power-use who needs the extra front bays.
So, if you want a gorgeous, high quality, inexpensive case for a new system or to replace a battered case – something that could possibly hold more stuff than The Doctor’s TARDIS and still look neat and tidy inside and out – then the In Win 703 is probably what you’re looking for so long as you plan carefully or are willing to occasionally be flexible with your demands. But, if you need more than one 5.25″ device or larger water cooling then you need to move on to something a bit bigger.
Summary

Thanks Erwin. More of my reviews will be on shortly but there’s a few articles I’ve written online now 🙂
