Packaging & Accessories

Packaging has never been anything that I’d call exciting on a Thermalright box. From the earliest I can remember, back in the days when I obtained my very first Thermalright product, the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, it was in a plain box with nothing more than the brand and model number printed on the sides. It has long remained the same but it seems to work for them and I have no qualms as long as my product, in this case the coolers, arrive safely at my door and are able to take a beating from the ever so slightly rough handling (sarcasm intended) couriers.

Within the brown box sits a lot of hard foam which is protecting your cooler from any damage. It comes in two parts which break away from each other which makes it easier to gain access to the cooler. It also makes it easier to box up (should you ever want to get rid of it or relocate it) too. Oh, and for the record, I hate photographing white foam!

Located on the very top of the box is the “add-on kit” which is essentially an air tunnel that connects the cooler to the exhaust fan at the rear of the case and helps to suck air through the heatsink rather than to draw air from around it. I am not sure if you get both the red and yellow air tunnels when you purchase this cooler although I am lead to believe that you will indeed receive both as one is for a 120mm fan and the other is for a 140mm fan.

Located within the bottom of the box is the accessories kit which comprises of the installation guide, the mounting kit, a few fan clips if you wish to use a fan on this cooler, some thermal compound as well as a screw driver so that you can install the cooler. Most PC builders will already have a screw driver but it is nice to see that they have gone that extra mile to include something which may prove to be very useful, even if it is used outside of the PC building process.
