Now that we have the packaging out of the way, lets have a closer look at our APUs. You will notice the APUs come in a small blister pack which also includes an AMD A Series Sticker.

Here is a closer look at the front of the APUs out of their packaging

The back side, or the bottom as some may call it, are completely identical as you may have guessed.

On the top of the heatsink we have a fan to help pull air in and dissipate heat from the heatsink. Again, both heatsink and fan assemblies that come with these APUs are identical.

On the bottom of the heatsink we have our Thermal Interface Material (TIM). How AMD have chosen to pre-apply this is different than I recall seeing on other AMD CPUs, including my past Phenom and FX chips. AMD have chosen to pattern the TIM on this time where as they used to apply it as a single strip. My guess is that the goal is when the heatsink is tightened down to the APU socket that the TIM will spread; thus creating a single layer while in the process saving resources and making sure too much TIM is not applied.

Here is a picture of one of the APUs out of its boxes with the included heatsink and fan assembly along with a leaflet that includes the Certificate of Authenticity, warranty information and installation instructions.
