Conclusion
8 Pack has become a global brand since reaching the number 1 worldwide overclocking top spot and Overclockers UK have effectively cashed in on the “hype” of this overclocking gladiator; but is everything with his name on it gold dust? It is no secret that KFA2 is his brand of choice with graphics cards and with this particular model being Overclockers UK exclusive, it’s no surprise that the Infin8 Black Edition is inspired by 8 Pack; I mean he is the in thing with enthusiast’s right? Aside from the marketing, the actual product itself has been tested and it certainly made for an interesting experience; time to crack through what I think and if this KFA2 GTX 970 is worth your hard earned cash!
There is no doubting that KFA2/Galax have a cracking card here in terms of performance; it trades blows (nearly) with a GTX 980 when fully overclocked which represents excellent value for money. I feel the major strength about the Infin8 Black Edition GTX 970 is the powerful balance of performance, cooling performance and of course that ever important acoustic factor; this twin fan cooler from KFA2 is pretty quiet and I rate it as one of the best coolers on a GPU that I have tested for quite a while.
No coil whine, this is probably down to the coil whine free guarantee that Overclockers UK include with this particular model and I had absolutely no hint of coil whine; every other brand has had minor to moderate coil whine so to have a card that is free from the dreaded fizzing, I applaud this particular move.
Touching on the design of the card, although I did state above that the card has a great balance of cooling and noise performance, the card to me really lacks style; I actually feel the card is a tad ugly but of course, this is my opinion so take that as you will. Despite this, the general design is good and I am a huge fan of the nickel plated heat pipes which might sound like a bogey prize in comparison to my opinion on the style, copper pipes looks even worse to me so it’s a nice retort to KFA2 here!
At £299.99 at the only place you can actually buy this card (Overclockers UK), when compared to the MSI, Gigabyte and ZOTAC models, this card along with the Gigabyte comes with the fastest stock speeds which surely makes it better value for money? Well without a semi-passive cooler like the MSI, without the style of some other cards, I believe it purely comes down to personal opinion and of course taste regarding this. What you do get is a pretty quiet cooler when under load (using auto fan profile) and although it doesn’t claim the silent award, it remains one of the quietest I have tested from the other GTX 970’s; no coil while is a major plus too!
Overall if you want a graphics card “inspired” by the overclocking warrior 8Pack, then this card is obviously going to tickle your fancy, but you have to remember that he didn’t clock it, didn’t create it, it is more of his name being mentioned along side it. You can understand though, given that this card out of the box is a pretty decent clocker and in other regards, this is also one of the most balanced performing graphics cards on the market in my opinion and if it wasn’t for the aesthetical view I took, it would be a pretty fine gold award but today isn’t KFA2’s day. It is still a cracking card and anyone purchasing this will be happy; lowering the price a little would make this super competitive to other brands but this is an Overclockers UK worldwide exclusive, you know where to go to buy this card!
Huge thanks to Overclockers UK for allowing us to take a look, I look forward to seeing more KFA2/Galax products in the future.
- Silver Award – The KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 OC Silent Infin8 Black Edition graphics card is a pretty funny one as overall, it has a fantastic balance of performance, value and street cred in the way of having 8Pack associated with it. The only major thing I have marked this down on is looks but that is of course my personal opinion and if you like the look of the card, this should be surely towards the top of your list!

The heatsink design is a rip-off, at least in appeareance, of the Asus Direct CU II
