Conclusion
Jumping right into the performance of the Kingston UHS-I U3 and I have to say, it definitely lives up to its specifications and can even read/write a bit faster than stated. What really impressed me was in testing, I put it up against a few 32GB USB sticks and when it came to the read speeds, more time than not it was the second fastest, if not the first. This was great to see as the USB sticks were not only bigger in memory, but also are physically bigger so a lot of people would just assume they are faster. Performance wise, the Kingston UHS-I U3 does what it states, and ever better in some cases.
On the design front, there really is not much to say except for on the technical side, Kingston have done a good job of making sure their UHS-I U3 hits its stated speeds and is consistent at doing so. Other than that, it is a black micro SD card with some red writing on it, nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.
As for the price, coming in at around £13, the Kingston UHS-I U3 is designed for high-speed use. The UHS-I U3 actually stands for Ultra High Speed and lets us know it is class 3. These types of cards are truly designed for action cameras and what some may not know, a lot of older SD cards are not fast enough to record in higher resolutions and as such, you will lose quality if your camera will actually even try to write to said SD card. When all is said and done, the price is well warranted as you know you are getting a quality micro SD card from a company with a proven track record.
If you are in the market for a top-notch micro SD card, Kingston have you covered with their UHS-I U3 offering and all you will need to do is decide which size is perfect for your needs.
- Gold Award – I have given the Kingston UHS-I U3 our Gold Award for the simple fact it does what it states. I also have a pile of other micro SD cards that are not up to the task of being used in action cameras and Kingston’s UHS-I U3 shows no signs of having any issues in this regard, an all-around gold worth product.
I would like to thank Kingston for sending in their 4K2K Micro SDHC for review and look forward to seeing what storage options they will come out with next.
