Codemasters has announced its F1 franchise will make its series debut on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this June with the release of F1 2015.
The game was developed using a new engine and contains improved handling and physics for all vehicles and parts attached. This includes: engine, transmission, aerodynamics, fuel tank, force feedback, suspension and a new tire physics model.
F1 2015 also contains a new broadcast presentation style which “recreates the unique race day atmosphere of a Grand Prix” complete with podium and grid sequences thanks to voice recognition technology on PS4 and Xbox One.
Players can also engage with their race engineer through in-game voice commands using the PlayStation Camera or Kinect or via compatible headsets and microphones for PlayStation 4.
There’s also an all-new Championship Season and Pro Season mode. The 2014 FIA Formula One World Championship Season is fully payable as bonus content and F1 2015 also contains the Mexican GP, which makes its return after over 20 years with the 2015 FIA Formula One World Championship Season.
“F1 2015 marks an exciting new chapter for Codemasters and Formula One; it’s a shift in direction for the game series, on new formats and our brand new game engine, with the game set to be released earlier in the season, launching this June,” said game director Paul Jeal in the press release.
“The handling is a vast improvement from our previous games. In particular our new tire model is a superb step forward towards realism, you can now experience the changes in grip caused by temperature changes, wear, car set-up, debris and weather conditions.
“The new Force Feedback system adds to the feeling of connection with the car and track surface.
“With the second race of the 2015 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP this weekend in Malaysia, the team is busy modelling the new 2015 cars and drivers in readiness for the game’s summer launch.”
A tease of the first signed off 2015 content is shown in the debut screenshots below, along with an early glimpse of the Mexican circuit. The announcement screenshots for F1 2015 show off both the 2015 season and 2014 season bonus content.
Additional 2015 season content will feature in future asset releases.
F1 2015 will release on PC, PS3 and Xbox One June 12.
