According to the UK sales monitor chart-track, Mortal Kombat X is the fastest selling game in the series’ 23 year history, the extremely violent fighting game jumped straight to first in the charts.
This warner-bros published game has also been chartered as the second-fasting selling UK game this year, right behind Battlefield: Hardline.
The console with the most sales is the PS4, which represents 61% of the games total sales, 38% coming from the Xbox One and only 1% coming from the PC (but this doesn’t represent downloads, and that could skew the figures a bit). The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions have been delayed to the summer with no final release date set.
This strong week for Mortal Kombat X has pushed Battlefield: Hardline off the top spot (where it’s been for the past 4 weeks) and into third, now behind GTA5.
In other news, the PC release of Grand Theft Auto V has boosted retail sales by 94%. However, as with all games in the official UK chart, digital sales are not counted which means you can ask the question, would Mortal Kombat X be at the top if that were the case?
The top 10 in the chart are as follows:
- Mortal Kombat X
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Battlefield Hardline
- FIFA 15
- Bloodborne
- Far Cry 4
- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
- Minecraft Xbox Edition
- Minecraft PlayStation Edition
- Dying Light
