EA have announced the release date and a new trailer of Unravel, an upcoming physics based platform game which is developed by Coldwood Interactive and published by EA.
Unravel centers around Yarny, a small creature made of red yarn who explores the world around him using the yarn on his body. As Yarny explores, the yarn on his body unravels creating lines in which the player needs to use to solve problems and progress in the game. According the the director of Unravel, Martin Sahlin, the yarn that Yarny is made out of, represents love, and the character unravels as they travel away from what they love.
Unravel was announced at EA’s E3 conference this year by game developer and creative director, Martin Sahlin. The game itself was well received after it’s announcement and most people compared it to Sony’s LittleBigPlanet. The games backgrounds and puzzles are inspired by Umea, Sweden. Sahlin drew inspiration for the game after creating a Yarny doll out of tire wire and yarn during a family camping trip in Northern Sweden.
I’m really looking forward to Unravel as it seems like a more relaxed game than others out at the minute and it seems like there is so much meaning to it behind what we have been told. I do believe however it does look a little like LittleBigPlanet but that was a very fun and great game to play so lets hope Unravel lives up to it’s expectations! Are you looking forward to playing Unravel? Is this your kind of game to play? What are your thoughts on it? Let us know!
The game will be released on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC on the 9th February 2016.
