NVIDIA Corp.’s forthcoming GeForce GTX 960 graphic card has been reported to be able to operate at 1500MHz with air cooling, although the GM206 graphic processor will be stock at 1127MHz but tied to the potential of the Maxwell architecture should see speeds much higher. With that and its reported 7GT/s data-rate it should make some interesting marketing under “overclocker’s dream” moniker.
Still, due to 1024 stream processors and 128-bit memory bus, performance of the GeForce GTX 960 will never get even close to that of graphics solutions that are more powerful card.
Even though according to NVIDIA, GTX 960 will be a perfect card for MOBA (Multiplayer online battle arena) gaming, this new graphics card will consume 120W through single 6-pin power connector, consuming very low power and generating inaudible noise. It’s the raw potential that has people interested so it will all be about competitive pricing and if it can live up to the claims of keeping solid efficiency while giving top bang for buck.
