The AKG K323 XS ship in a rather diminutive and not-so-green box unlike the Uplift earphones, which is a shame. You can see from this picture alone the battery of plastic you need to battle through to get at your new purchase.
At 9.75g these are incredibly lightweight. Again, for comparison the Uplift earphones were in the region of 30g.
Awful packaging aside, the K323 ship with a bundle that’s par for the course. There’s four different sized earbuds included as well as a faux-leather carry pouch.
The pictures don’t do the small size justice. Personally speaking, the yellow finish looks great and fits the K323 great. These would be ideal earphones for running or gym work and the yellow sunshine calls to Summer perfectly. There are no exotic materials used here, though. The K323 are plastic through and through.
The slider along the cable has the ability to break off the right channel so you can have them truly loose.
Simple AKG branding on the jack. The rubber sleeve finish over the cable feels like a step down coming from the Uplift’s braided cable.
Whilst the build quality of the AKG is undoubtedly good, it’s hard not to feel that compared to the Uplift it feels a touch shallow. There is no aluminium and beech lined modules here and the un-braided cable seems to be something the spate of ruined earphones I’ve had have all shared in common.
AKG claim that audio performance in a small package is the driving force behind the K323, though, not build materials. Does the K323 hold true to these claims?
