[section_title title=Closer Look]Closer Look

Starting with the packaging of the Sennheiser HD 335s headphones, they come packed inside a mainly black box with a clear plastic viewing window on the right hand side.  In typical Sennheiser fashion, the Sennheiser logo is surrounded by a blue accent at the bottom and the front includes such information such as its compatibility, warranty (which is a great 2 years) and of course the model number.

On the rear, we have information regarding some of the features in multiple languages which include English, German, Spanish, French, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese and Polish.  This particular packaging seems to be geared towards the European market.  It also mentions about the volume control which the HD 335s has which is built into one of the ear cups.  The rear of the box also follows the same aesthetic as the front.

Taking a look at the HD 335s themselves, this particular model is the black/silver version, but it also comes available in white/silver for those who prefer a lighter colour.  The HD 335s are over the ear headphones and have a closed cup design.  They weigh 220grams which is quite light for headphones with a headband from my experience.

On the left ear cup, Sennheiser have accented the black with a glossy silver strip with HD 335s embossed into it.  This is aesthetically pleasing and gives the user a feeling of high quality.  It is the same for the right ear cup but on that one, it has the Sennheiser logo embossed.  The cup itself is made from hard plastic and has a glossy shine to it also when in contact with direct lighting.

With the HD 335s having an over the head design, the headphones themselves are adjustable.  This is done with hard plastic extender which allows you to adjust the HD 335s to fit your head.  I personally would have liked to have seen a metal or aluminium part used here which would have further enhanced the build quality.  The headband as you can see is padded with faux leather like soft material covering the foam.  This is to ensure the headphones are comfortable to wear but I will touch on that during the performance section of the review.

On the right ear cup, the Sennheiser logo is embossed into the silver plastic and features an on-ear volume control.  This allows the user to turn the volume to their desired level while eliminating the need to fiddle around with an in-line controller.

Having mentioned about padding, the ear cups are also padded with the same material and offer a very lush amount of padding on each ear cup.  If they are as comfy as they look, then all is good in the world!

Although there are no volume controls on the in-line controller with the HD 335s, it does allow you to answer calls via your mobile phone devices.  This is compatible with the likes of Nokia, Sony, Blackberry, HTC and the Apple iPhones.  This is a nice hard glossy black plastic and really looks the part although I think it would have been better to put a button on the ear cups reducing the actual need for the in-line remote itself.

Bundled with the Sennheiser HD 335s, there is a 3.5mm adapter which allows you to use the mobile features such as hands free calling etc.  This is only needed for certain smartphones and a full list can be found from the Sennheiser website (it is constantly being updated).
