Closer Look: Interior
Taking a closer look at the insides of the Phanteks Evolv ITX chassis, it actually looks quite roomy inside with some noticeable features right off the bat. This includes rubber grommets for cable management, a shelf separating the main compartment from the power supply; I personally like this feature and wish manufacturers did this more often as I feel it looks cleaner overall. Also in clear view is spaces for Phantek’s innovative design on the SSD “drop n lock” mounting.
To install a power supply, you need to go in from the back of the case (meaning motherboard tray side panel) and install it that way. One thing I love about separating the main chamber and the PSU section is the clean and crisp aesthetics which this allows users to create; no-one wants a messy build these days and with ITX cases, space and how it’s used is everything!
In the roof of the case, there is support for a 240/280mm radiator, whether that be an AIO CPU cooler, AIO GPU cooler or a custom loop. The maximum support radiator clearance in the roof of the case is 74mm for a 240mm and 54mm for 280mm radiators; I am of course talking about the thickness here.
One very niche and interesting feature with the Phanteks Evolv ITX case that I have practically fallen in love with, is the removable upper shelf towards the front end of the case; the panel with the Phanteks logo on can actually be lifted up to install a graphics card up to 13” in length and then simply closed again, giving a solid and clean look about it.
After removing the back panel, it allowed me access into the power supply compartment, as well as the 3.5” HDD mounting trays; there are 2 x 3.5” HDD mounting trays in total, but numerous places of SSDs to be mounted! Also featured on the Evolv ITX, is 2 x Phanteks emblazoned Velcro cable ties which can be re-used over and over again. Plastic one use cable ties does come in the accessories box which also contains all the screws for your system build.
