Closer Look
A glance at the front and side of the packaging will show you a very large image of what is inside the box. apart from the somewhat small branding and name plate, the image is all that’s on the front. On the side however, there are a few of the positive points about the cooler.
The rear of the packaging is dedicated entirely to displaying the specifications. In a break from the theme of rest of the box, on the final side, we have a faint line drawing of the side view of the cooler and fan as well as the exceptionally large branding “H5”.
Inside the box and dealing with the accessories first, we come across them pre-sorted with Intel and AMD on opposite sides of the internal packaging.
Once out of the box we can see them individually packaged along with the installation guides which are again kept separate depending on your processor. Not shown, but visible in the video on the installation page later in this review, is the long L-shaped screwdriver that’s also included.
Now we take a look at the cooler and XF140 performance fan itself. Mounted using the now-familiar wire-clip system and with rubber shock absorbing pads front and back of the fan itself this promises to be quite a powerful cooler and perhaps rather quiet to boot.
Here we see under that fan where you can make out the honeycomb shaped fins at the intake side. This is to increase the air pressure inside and increase the speed of the air as it exits the block. I only have a basic grasp of aerodynamics but Cryorig explain,”Jet Fin Acceleration Systemâ„¢ carries the hot air out of the system faster and more efficiently,” which is about all we really need to know. *Sorry for the poor image quality – this was taking inside a case during a fitting test.*
The side view is nothing special apart from highlighting how narrow the fan is in relation to the width of the front facing edge, not that I’m saying it’s small here by any stretch of the imagination.
The rear shows the fins are straightened rather than honeycombed throughout.
The final close-up shows the base with the four U-shaped heat pipes which run throughout the fin array. You can also see the bottoms of the two screws that attach to the cross bars which are held in place ready to be attached along with the braided cable of that XF140 performance fan.
