Starting off with the packaging as always and I for one love it! It’s blue, enough said! No but seriously it is very well designed and though it is small it offers all the information users will need to aid in the purchase of a CPU cooler.
The front of the box features the SilverStone logo in the top left, below this is the model name followed by an image of the AR05. Down on the bottom there is a features list and a QR code for users to scan to receive more information about the AR05.
On the back we have the same list of special features we saw on the front but in various languages.
Looking around the sides of the boxes and there are some closer up pictures, a diagram with dimensions and a full specification list.
When opening the box we are immediately greeted with a installation manual and I must say it is on some of the nicest paper I have seen in some time! Under this is a small piece of foam we can move to the side to reveal the AR05 and to the right is the thermal paste with the brackets and screws underneath.
SilverStone have opted to include a tube of thermal paste rather than have it pre-installed. Some users may not care for this but I prefer this option myself.
@play3r Thanks for the review – i have this cooler and it works great in my mini-ITX build (which also uses the ML06-E you reviewed earlier this summe).. Needless to say its a REALLY tight fit getting everything in there. It’s especially cramped now since I installed a GTX 750 Ti by Gigabyte.
Do you think its possible to replace the CPU by removing the heatsink / fan from the top side? I really don’t want to take everything out of the case just to access the back of the mobo.
Always appreciate nice comments, thank you! In regards to your question, you can do it, I rarely remove the backplates when re-applying new thermal paste etc! It will work if the mounting mechanism doesn’t cover the CPU hold down on the motherboard!
