It is once again the time to see if another CPU cooler has passed our testing procedure and returned from the depths and heat of hell that is our 4770k @ 4.5GHz!
Touching on the design first and I have to say I feel this cooler is very aesthetically pleasing! I have always been a firm believer in go big or go home and this thing is a monster! The SilverArrow IB-E features a pure copper nickel plated baseplate, aluminium fins and room for up to three 140mm or 150mm fans! The design of the fins also allows for the fans to be installed with ease with the included retention clips.
When it comes to the performance of the SilverArrow IB-E it doesn’t disappoint there either! It managed to keep my 4770K to 48.5c running full load at 4.5Ghz, beating out the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 and being the best performing cooler I have personally tested so far. Acoustically speaking the SilverArrow IB-E was only beaten by the likes of the be quiet! Shadow Rock Slim when connected to a 12v connector and let’s remember the Shadow Rock Slim only had one fan attached when testing! The SilverArrow IB-E is definitely a top tier cooler in terms of performance, both acoustic and thermals.
The price is also right on point. Coming in at just over £66 this is right where it should be, battling it out with the competitors for the top spot in the CPU air cooling category. Air coolers of this caliber can even rival the likes of low end AIO liquid coolers which is truly amazing and the fact there is room and included retention clips for a third fan would only further add to the value of the cooler. The price may seem high to some but you have to remember you will be getting a top-of-the-line air cooler that is not rivaled by many, if any at all.
In conclusion, the SilverArrow IB-E from Thermalright is a top class air cooler offering amazing performance with a great design. If you are not sure about going for an all-in-one liquid cooler or creating your own custom water loop but still want the best of the best then the SilverArrow IB-E should be on your list, and near the top too!
I would like to thank Thermalright for sending the SilverArrow IB-E in for review and look forward to seeing more from them in the future.
