Testing Setup

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K @4.5GHz
  • CPU Cooler: Noctua L9i
  • Motherboard: MSI Z87I-AC
  • RAM: GSkill TridentX 2400MHz CL10 8GB (2x4GB)
  • PSU: Cooler Master V1200 1200w
  • OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Methodology:

All benchmarks are done on a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit that is fully up-to-date with Windows Updates to ensure that the performance reflects a real-world scenario and not that of a tweaked benchmarking system. Every benchmark runs for a total of three times and then an average is taken of those results.

3D Benchmarks:

  • 3DMark 11 – Performance and Extreme preset
  • 3DMark Fire Strike – Normal and Extreme preset
  • Unigine Heaven 4.0 – Basic and Extreme preset
  • Unigine Valley – Extreme and Extreme (HD) preset

Gaming Benchmarks:

  • Bioshock Infinite – Ultra /w DDOF Preset 1080p + 1440p
  • Company of Heroes 2 – Maximum Settings 1080p + 1440p
  • Grand Theft Auto V – Maximum Settings 1080p + 1440p
  • Grid: Autosport – Ultra Preset 1080p + 1440p
  • Metro: Last Light – Maximum Settings 1080p + 1440p
  • Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor – Ultra Preset 1080p + 1440p
  • Thief – Very High Preset 1080p + 1440p
  • Tomb Raider – Ultimate Preset 1080p + 1440p
  • Total War: Rome II Extreme Preset 1080p + 1440p
